Old Fashioned Bearded Iris

It’s May, and it’s time for these showy blossoms to make their appearance.  I love these flowers.  They’re easy to grow, easy to propagate, and most of all, they’re absolutely beautiful.  We have a small section of irises near our sidewalk.  I dug these up years ago from my mom’s garden.  My mom died in May of 2003.  Now, these flowers are a little more special to me than most of the other flowers that we have.  When I see them each spring, they remind me of her – and her great love of flowers.    Another great thing about these flowers is the wonderful fragrance they pour out.  It’s a sweet smell that can hold its own with any perfume – at least that’s my opinion.  Enjoy them if you see any!
