This church is located on Mountain Lake Road, on the right-hand side of the road on the way up to Mountain Lake. I’ve taken quite a few photos of this church over the years. It’s really hard for me to drive by and not stop to at least gaze at its beauty. I love the way this church looks, especially with the evening sun. The bottom one in black and white looks pretty good too. The sign over the front door says “Sherry Memorial Christian Church, Built 1903”.

We saw some HUGE ferns on our hike Saturday. Here’s a close up shot of one with sunlight coming through it.

I’ve recently been noticing that many of my images on the blog are not as sharp as they are when I view them in Lightroom or even after they’re exported as a jpeg. I just learned recently from Scott Kelby’s post a clue to what the problem is. I’ll be checking my export settings and comparing a few over the next posts.

Here are 5 photos of a large buck that I saw on Saturday in Giles County, Virginia. The first photos shows just how far away it was, but doesn’t really show how dark it was. The time was about 8:20, and it was very dark in the shadows. At least since the deer stood out against the sky, you can see just how big the rack was. The other 4 photos show different angles, and I’ve cropped them to make it easier to see the size.

Hogan and I went geocaching on Saturday, which led us to a small hike at Mountain Lake in Giles County, Virginia. We hiked up to Bald Knob and were treated with some of the most wonderful views. Here are a few of the trail up the mountain and then some from the top.

Yes, I know it’s already August, but I’m way behind on getting some photos up. These photos were taken from the front steps of my house on July 13th.

Sometimes, she just doesn’t care to have her photograph taken. But isn’t she just so cute! Taken 7/16.
