Lunar Eclipse – Virginia View

Staying up late is not a problem for me, so the time for this lunar event wasn’t a problem for me either.  However, cloud cover was the potential problem for viewing this eclipse.  Below are a series of photos that show the progression of the eclipse from no shadow all the way up until just before the total eclipse.  The shots were tough to get since there were very few openings in the clouds.  After the last shot at 2:19 a.m., there wasn’t another opening for 30 minutes, and that’s when I decided to give up.  I did check outside again around 3:00 a.m., but the clouds were still there.  It was fun to try to capture the images, but a longer lens would have helped.  Hogan and Hannah were excited for a little while, but the hot chocolate at such a late hour was probably more exciting for them.  At least we have a few photos to help remember the time we got to spend together.

Winter Farm

This tractor sits safely sheltered from snow in Bland County, Virginia.  Taken on 12/4/2010.  It’s actually located very close to a very large tree that I love to look at each time we pass by this farm.  Click here for the link to that posting.

Scenic Roadway

This is the view from my mother-in-law’s house.  When we visit, I always want to take photo after photo of this scene.  I love it.  This was taken on 11/25/2010.

Garden Spider

This Garden Spider was grabbing a few minutes of sun on November 25, 2010.  I was surprised to see it out, and it was only about 45 degrees as best as I can remember.  This was taken at my mother-in-law’s house in Buchanan County, Virginia.

This is Gracie.  She was at church to pick up her big brother from the Awana Sparks club, and I captured this quick image.  She’s just so cute!  Photo was taken on 11/10/2010.
