Hannah’s Poem – The Jamaican Butterfly

The Jamaican Butterfly

The butterfly in Jamaica

beats with the music that booms loudly.

It bounces with black and blue water trampolines,

as a rabbit hops to and fro.

Hannah wrote this poem on April 14, 2011, as part of an assignment in her fifth grade class.  She was given this picture to color, and then to come up with a free verse poem to go along with it.  I think it’s REALLY good, especially since she related it to something that was part of her life experience (going on a missions trip to Jamaica in the summer of 2010).  I was disappointed when I found out she received a grade of a B for this work.  I give her an A+ for it.  What do you think?
