The Secret Road

This image makes me want to follow the paths just to see what’s around the bend in the road.  I love roads like this, but it seems that I never have enough free time to explore locations like this.  In this particular case, there was a “No Trespassing” sign with a cable across the road to deter wanderers, like me.  This was taken just off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Waynesboro, Virginia on August 13, 2011 while we were on our way home from vacationing in Williamsburg.

Casting Crowns at Busch Gardens

We visited Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, on June 18, 2011.  We were so looking forward to seeing the concert that was there that day.  Matt Maher opened up the show, and did a fantastic job.  I wasn’t really close enough to get any good photos since I didn’t bring in my zoom lens.  When Casting Crowns was about at the end of their show, I moved over to the middle aisle and captured these images.  The concert was fantastic!

A Walk in the Grass

This post was originally going to be called Lunch on the Grass, but since I wasn’t hunting, I decided for the title at the top instead.  I was on my way home from work on 9/29/2011 and saw something move in the grass on a vacant lot near my house.  I pulled over beside the road and carefully walked up over the little mound and there I spotted it.  Can you see it in the first image?  I wish I would have had my 70-200 mm lens so that I could have gotten a much better image.  It was still a pretty cool feeling to be able to get close enough with the lens that is my everyday lens (24-70 mm).  By the end of the images, you’ll see that it was actually “A Run in the Grass”.

Fall Foliage – Viscoe Road

Fall Foliage – Viscoe Road

After leaving my house on a foggy morning, this was the scene at the top of the hill (on the same morning as yesterday’s fog photograph post)…October 18, 2011.  What a beautiful site it was to see the fall foliage against this blue sky…and a great start to my day!

Fog on the New River

Fog on the New River

This image is a normal view from my house on most Autumn mornings.  The image was made on October 18, 2011 at 8:30 in the morning.  Although this looks like a black-and-white photograph, it it in full color – there’s just not much color visible though.  Living next to the New River, the fog is often so thick that we can’t tell what the weather is like.  On this particular day, when I drove to the top of the hill leaving my subdivision, it was a bright morning with clear blue skies.  There’s actually the top of a street lamp at the bottom center of the photograph (behind the letters).  I’m a bit surprised that it wasn’t still on.
