Tom Sawblade

I love capturing images of signs from all over.  This sign is a frequent one that drivers around the rural portions of Virginia will come across.  The two things that go through my mind when I see this one is the cool hat, and the saw blade for a rear wheel.  I think the hat is one like Tom Sawyer may have worn, so I think of this sign as Tom Sawblade.  Photo was taken in Tazewell County on October 18, 2015.

Stormy Skies in Bessemer City

This was one of the coolest cloud formations that I’ve ever witnessed.  As I was traveling back from South Carolina on September 1, 2013, I drove through the the small town of Bessemer City, North Carolina.  I looked for a spot to pull off the road and capture the clouds, and found an old church to provide some extra interest…St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Cool clouds are a favorite background for my portrait sessions too.

Blue Ridge Parkway Scenery

This is just one example of the many wonderful views available to travelers of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  This vista was captured on August 13, 2011 just east of Buena Vista (clever name, right).  Click HERE to see the location in Google Maps.

Mountains, mountains, mountains…I love seeing those off in the distance.

Blacksburg Vista

This image is a view of Ellett Valley as seen from Blacksburg on the evening of January 27, 2012.  What a stunning vista is was too.

Rainy Day = Rainbow

One of the best parts of rainy days are the clouds, but also the possibility of the sun coming out and providing a rainbow.  January 27, 2012 was that kind of day in Blacksburg, Virginia.  I drove quite a few streets away from Main Street to find a place without lots of power lines or trees blocking the view.

Dilapidated Barn

For all us barn lovers, here’s another.  I don’t know which I like better – pristine barns with lots of color or differently shaped, or old simple barns falling apart from age and neglect.  This barn is located in Christiansburg, Virginia, and the image was made on January 26, 2012.

Field of Fog

This corn field just beside the New River was recently cut and allowed the fog to be visible along the ground early yesterday morning.  I think if I would have been there about 30 minutes earlier, the image may have been even more spectacular than this.  This field is on the Montgomery County side of the New River near Fairlawn.  Happy Wednesday to you.
