Fog on the New River

Fog on the New River

This image is a normal view from my house on most Autumn mornings.  The image was made on October 18, 2011 at 8:30 in the morning.  Although this looks like a black-and-white photograph, it it in full color – there’s just not much color visible though.  Living next to the New River, the fog is often so thick that we can’t tell what the weather is like.  On this particular day, when I drove to the top of the hill leaving my subdivision, it was a bright morning with clear blue skies.  There’s actually the top of a street lamp at the bottom center of the photograph (behind the letters).  I’m a bit surprised that it wasn’t still on.

Good Morning Landscape

This is another sunrise shot, taken on April 25, 2011 on my way to Rockville Maryland.  This was taken near the VA/WV line near Harper’s Ferry.  I was able to capture quite a few different images during the time the sun was coming from behind the distant mountain until it was completely in view and overpowering the landscape.  I hope to post more soon…let me know what you think.

Early June Sunrise

This was the scene one morning in early June (6/6/2011) when I was heading out to work.  What a glorious way to begin the day!

Glowing Sun Beams

November was a great month for foggy mornings at our house along the New River.  This shot was taken as I was driving away for work.  It’s a shot of our backyard looking under the trees with the sun breaking through the fog while being clipped by the top branches of the tree.  Great view.

Foggy Sun Beams

This display of the sun’s rays carving through the morning fog was the view that I had leaving for work on November 16th, 2009.

Foggy Sunrise

This is another golden sunrise that I shot last week, again with lots of fog creating such a wonderful glowing image.  This was taken in my back yard on 10/21.

Golden Sunrise

As I was leaving work on Thursday morning (10/22), I captured this image of the sunrise climbing from behind the trees and the dense fog.  Great start to the day.
