Truck Stuck on a Triangle

I love unusual looking road signs.

Here’s yet another funny sign – A Truck Stuck on a Triangle.

Old Chevy Truck

An old Chevy truck, located in Buchanan County, Virginia, provides a sharp contrast between the red of the truck and the budding green leaves here in the early spring season.

Here Comes the Bus – or Camper?

This old Ford bus has been sitting unused for quite some time it seems.  I’m curious as to the story behind this bus.  I can only assume that it used to be a school bus.  Wonder which school?  Was it always white, or did it used to be yellow?  It almost appears that some of the yellow is showing through on the hood, but that may just be a combination of rust and dirt.  It does appear that it was converted to be used as a camper in its second life.  If buses could talk.

This was taken in the Whitewood area of Buchanan County on April 10th.

Rusty Ol’ Jeep – What model is it?

While driving along a back road in Buchanan County last weekend, I came across this Jeep that I just had to photograph.  Can anybody tell me what model year this is?

Big Truck and Little Kids

Okay, there are big trucks, and then there are BIG TRUCKS.  Here are a few photos of the truck with Hannah and Hogan.  These were taken back in July, at Harman, VA.  It’s really hard to imagine how big this truck is, even with the photos.  The bed for the truck wasn’t delivered yet, so that would have made it even bigger. The truck is a Caterpillar 785B.  Wow!

Barn & Truck

It appears that I have a mini-series started here.  I’m just not sure if it’s for barns or old trucks.  They’re both neat to see while driving around the back country roads.  Here is a photo of a barn at sunset, with an old truck in front of it.  This is located in Montgomery County, within the Christiansburg town limits.  It doesn’t look like it, but it’s located almost directly behind Wal-Mart.

Here are two versions of the same picture.  I find it amazing that cropping can change the “feel” of the picture so much.  Tell me which one you like better.

Old Chevrolet Truck

Our church’s Awana group had the annual hay ride on Saturday in Floyd County.  We met at the church parking lot, and took several vehicles over to the Indian Valley area.  We then split up into two groups.  The larger group was on the hay wagon pulled by a tractor.  The smaller group was in the back of a large truck filled with hay.  The ride then lasted for about 30 minutes, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful.  The peak of the fall color was probably last week, or even the week before, but there were still so many colorful areas of the mountains to make this trip very enjoyable.  We passed by several places where I wished I could stop and snap a photo, but couldn’t.  I took the picture of this Chevrolet truck while we were driving by, and it came out quite nice.  Can anyone tell me what model year this truck is?
